Network Marketing Tips- Failing Forward in 2011

With 2010 racing to the finish line and New Year’s day looming in front of me just hours away I wanted to pen down down what was important to me in the year gone by and the key points that made the year tick.

The year started off with a rush when Vicki and I decided that we take the risk in both time and money and that I work in the Philippines expanding our ever growing Usana business overseas. It was a hard call as we both knew that commiting to work in Manila would mean that I would have to be away from home 6 to 8 weeks at a time with short breaks inbetween and the routine would go on for a minimum of 24 months and take us right through to the end of 2011.

Knowing what we know from our days in Malaysia, building our business there in Usana, I pulled out in 11 months as the family strings called me home when my then 14 year old teenage son said “dad you got to come home, I am growing up fast”.

The adverse effect was that I left weak, fledgling teams back in KL and Penang, Malaysia and though they managed to survive, it would have been best if I stayed on and supported them for another 12 months or so.

So its now the end of 2010, I have 12 months behind me and how have I faired so far. We did our balance sheet the other day and Vicki said that we have doubled our income since Jan 2010 to date. Though a part of it has gone to support me being away from home in the Philippines, it sure has been profitable.

And it was all done working part time with my home based business. Soon by end of 2011 or mid 2012, I may not need to do what I am doing now and the effort will pay me for years to come. Pretty good for just parttime work in Luzon, Philiipines.

So what can I take to 2011 from this experience.

  • Be passionate with whatever you undertake
  • Be sincere and commited to the project and have the utmost faith it will work out
  • Monitor your progress month by month and learn by “Failing Forward” each time you come to hurdles. Life is meant to have problems, Just learn more skills to overcome the new problems that pop up from time to time.
  • Sharpen your networking skills and make new friends and tap into their networks. In essence foster relationships.
  • Learn to “TIDE” generously. Remember tiding is a way of giving back what is not yours. The 10% you give is actually what someone long ago invested in you and the only way it can multiple is to give it back which helps increase it ten fold.
  • Have a Plentiful Mindset and discard your Scarcity outlook on life. Look at your cup half full insteady of it being half empty.
  • Share Network Marketing with people as it’s one of the most risk free options to help people today to get out of the “Rat Race” and become debt free.

Looking forward to a great 2011. See you there!

Happy New Year to all.

The Four Pillars of a Good Home Based Business Model

December 24, 2010 by

There are 4 legs to the stool in network marketing’s success. If you are either struggling with your present company or considering a home based business be it in MLM or any other home business you must keep these four points in mind as corner stones for your success.

Free tips on selecting a good home based business Click Here!

What people are not aware of!

Most people do not know what to look for or what to look into and always I see marketers selling these poor souls the so called Holy Grail to become a millionaire. Don’t buy these books but learn from successful business people around you. The best place to start is to ask successful businessmen men and women around you how they became successful. Ask your direct sales leaders to share ideas with you too. You will get all these tips for free and much more. Remember that the business of direct sales is similar to that of conventional business.

Both direct selling ( Network marketing) and conventional business have customers who have needs which need to be satisfied. The better you get at satisfying the demand the more profit you will make. Just look at the Starbucks success story. Its that simple.

Learn your market, and then market to that customer what they want. Not what you want them to know.

How does Conventional Business differ from MLM?

Now the only difference is that network marketers do not have to invest 100′s of thousands of dollars to start business as seen in conventional businesses in Starbucks, Coffee Bean or MacDonalds. For a fraction of the cost in setting up, you could be able to be in business with professional support, world class products with all the logiatics looked after by teh parent company. All you are is the marketing arm for the company. The better you get at marketing the more you will be paid.

Why do people find network marketing hard?

Do you get the picture now why people fail in network marketing or Multilevel marketing. It’s because they were told that they don’t have to sell products, or that they just had to introduce the business to probably 2 or 4 people. The business will take off by itself. This may not be the case for most people. You must learn to establish a good consumer base. Don’t fall for the hype of “No-Selling”. Your residual income will come when you have many people buying your products every month without fail.

Remember that most people want to know what they have to market. They want first hand product experience and when you give them this experience, then its so much easier for them to be enticed into helping you share these products with people they know.

There is no such thing as a fast buck whether it be in conventional business or in direct sales. A certain amount of hard work coupled with preparedness is important. Preparedness is in gaining knowledge and being ready and alert when an opportunity presents itself to you. I also believe you create your own good luck by being prepared.

The Four Pillars To Your Success In Network Marketing!

Finally the four key areas that are important for your ongoing success are:

  1. Your Belief In YourSelf: You must know that you want success and its within your reach. If you doubt this very first element of success, then you are setting youself up for failure. If you have little or no faith in your abilities then I suggest you either change your mind about business and stick with a job that pays you what your boss feels your are worth or you go out and attend seminars in self improvement, read book on personal development and mingle and make friends with people who are ambitious and have high self-esteems.
  2. Your Belief In The Industry: If you do not have a strong belief in the direct selling industry and networking in particular then you have another issue. Either educate yourself why this industry is very powerful or go back and earn a living at your day job. For your information people are making very decent livings in direct sales and there have been more millioniares created in direct sales than in any industry combined as to date. So either you change your mindset or you will fail miserably and will find yourself joining many people who today curse MLm just because they thought they would be millioniares within a month. The industry works but you need to know what makes it work. Find yourself a good mentor within the multi level marketing who is either very successful or is a rising star with his company and learn the ropes from him.
  3. Your Belief In The Company: The 3rd crucial element is having a strong belief that the company you have selected to associate yourself with and create your financial future. This is easy if you had done your due diligence before you signed the paperwork. If for any reason you still not sure if your company is good enough then go back to the drawing board and do your due diligence into the management, financials and the products of the company and see if you can see yourself representing the company.
  4. Your Belief In The Products You Sell: Find products that you are comfortable in selling. Be it skincare, healthcare or vitamins. If you are joining a company with the notion that you will not be selling anything then you are in for a big surprise. Every good business has to have a product or service which it markets. Starbucks markets good coffee and the experience associated with drinking coffee. You must find yours. If your company has skincare which helps to decrease fine lines and wrinkles then you should market anti-aging. Believe in your products and people will believe in you.

You will find articles addressed to help people like you to be able to take advantage of the booming health and wellness industry.

Beware of marketers who selling you programs or ebooks on what is the secret in networking.

A Claude Moment!

I firmly believe that you must acquire customers, learn to keep them and then ask them if any of them would be keen to do what you are doing. Thats the business. Though its simple, it may not be easy. Business has never meant to be easy but its “doable”. The rewards in having your own home based business far beats that of working for a boss.

I have done it and am still doing it so you can too.

How to set rules to duplicate in your home based business

December 11, 2010 by

How important is training for your home based business survival!

Here are some quick tips:

  • Set some ground rules for your team- they should always stay in touch with you everyday for the first month
  • They must always respond immediately to your calls, texts or emails.
  • You must instill in them that you are easily approachable as long as they follow the rules
  • Instill in them that if they want your time they will need to do the small home work task set by you each week. If they fail to do so then you will have to move on to another more serious member.
  • Observe to see if the new distributor is critical of things or eager to learn the system come what may. Give more time to the ones who want the business more and are willing to pay the price to learn. Don’t chase the lazy ones who have always an excuse.

Here is a short case study that may help you….

Recently a friend of mine asked me why was he not having the same level of success that he saw me enjoying in my MLM business at home.

At first I could not see what it was that I should be talking to him about regarding his networking business. He seemed to be doing everything in the book correctly – attending meeting, doing his follow ups and reading books that were being recommended to him by his company and mentors.

So I asked him to take me along for one of his group presentations. When I arrived I asked him if he could pick a person from his group who was in the business for two weeks atleast and make that person the presentator for the evening.

He said he could not ask that person to do so as she was not yet trained. So I then asked him to atleast ask her to do a small segment of the presentation and again he had the same response.

So then I asked him if he could pick someone in the team who was a month old. He had the same response. We went down the line and finally I noticed that not one distributor was actually trained to do so.

My friend being as good as he was, was the main presentator and the excuse from all was that he was so good that they felt he should do it.

His business was as good as he was. In fact the sum of the business success was not of the whole business team but stopped at him.

That was the problem. He needed to start to empower his team to be able to train others so the whole team would succeed as a whole right down to the youngest team member of two weeks old.

Do you see my point. Learn to set rules and follow the system of your working at home company immediately for success.

MLM or network marketing is a business of duplication. We need to get our teams up to speed the instant they join. The system works very well and is easily duplicable as long as the mentor is strict and enforces some rules from day one.

I would suggest that if you are having an issue as my friend had follow these simple steps now:

  • get the new distributor to read the company newspaper.
  • Then do role playing the next day
  • Then on the second day when he has a guest you do the products and he does the business presentation.
  • Swap roles for the next presentation
  • Finally on the last day which should be day 4 or 5 of the life of the distributor just sit back and evalualte his work and give feed back.

Then move on and train another team member in your home based business.

This is the best empowerment you could ever give a team member of yours.

How to apprectiate your home based business, Work from home

How Good Is Your Company?

Case Study-1:

In today world we are faced with trying times, but inspite of this there are huge opportunities abounding.

PS: If you find my story below interesting how about we connect either through Facebook or get my eNewsletter so I can mentor you. I run a global home based business and look for people from time to time to mentor.

Now for the rest of the story….

People all around talk about hardships and trials that come their way daily. They most often complain about their employers and always want more from their employment rather than say let’s give more to our company and keep our company afloat in difficult financial times.

How about we learn to give before we demand!

I was impressed with a story that my brother-in-law a few months ago narrated. He mentioned something over dinner to a bunch of us guys one night in Brisbane on one of my trips back home this year from Manila in the Philippines. He is a very generous, gracious and unassuming guy and we all love him for his gentle nature. He is over 6 feet tall and is a gentle giant.

Now Frank ( I am sure he won’t mind me mentioning his name here) belongs to a huge mining company in Queensland, Australia and was speaking of special bonuses the mine has for its employees. One such bonus for existing employees at that time was to reward an existing employee if they were to recommend a future employee to the mining company.

What a way to attract staff to a company. Word of mouth advertising is the best recomendation for any company. We all do networking of sorts everyday and this moning company was using existing staff to market their company through word of mouth marketing, Networking!

The bonus was good, around $2000 if I remember right which is probably the wage of the new employee for a week. In other words its a close Matching Bonus to what an employee would get for a week.

 How good was that!

Imagine getting a one OFF “Matching Bonus” for every employee you brought into the mining company. That would pay for any existing bills or even a good holiday if you knew of an electrician the mine needed.

You could set up your own little recruiting agency on the side just to supply workers to the mine, LOL!

Better still what if you came across a deal or a permanent promotion from your company that rewarded you to recommend your company to others. What if this company gave you a BONUS every time the future employee earned and better still what if you got it for 26 weeks of the life of that new employee in your company.

 Would that be exciting!

And here is another more exciting thing. If your company could give you a 100% Match of the future employee’s earnings would you get even more excited.

 I would!

So why do companies do this?

Global companies want to attract the best people into the work force whether it be miners or sales people. Quite often and most often these people are hidden away from the public eye and maybe be known to someone in the existing company.

It’s far cheaper for the company to pay an existing staff member to find a trusted hard working worker than to find an ad with a marketing agency to do the recruiting.

Now the new employee has friends in the company who will train and support him. This is priceless to the employer as the best training is from trained staff. It does not cost more for the company in way of training and the training is the best. there is a vested interest for a trained staff to mentor the new comer.

That’s why they reward you. For all your hard efforts in helping the employer to grow and increase business.

Now there are many home based business offers in Australia, US, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines that come close to what I mentioned above but you need to look for them.

If you want more information on what I have been talking about and want an opportunity to earn some exciting bonuses then please do drop me a line through this webpage.

I am sure I can steer you in the right direction with Home based busines ideas.
