Tips On Finding A Home Based Business!
Don’t fall for hype or huge promises of high returns in a few weeks. In all my years of running business I have seen so many dreams come crashing down when it comes to selecting a home based business.
Check evverything out.
Home based business are not necessarliy hard to find, in fact there are so many around that we find sort through the maze pretty hard.
Looking for a well tested and proven business to join then
Here are some key points to bear in mind when looking to join a home business to create extra income from home.
Point-1: Â Look to see to if the company has a track record. This is far better than getting into a new company just to be a pioneer. With new companies come risks and in case the company is a success then you will benefit hugely. Its the same if things go bad, you could lose a lot of friends and associates as well as the time and money put into a venture such as an new up-start company.
In most cases the radars start to blink around the 4 to the 6 year that the company is in business. Take a good look at Google. It is a good example of waiting for the 4th to the 6th year to have got in. Now its a huge success and will be so for many years to come. Google only started to come to people’s attention in 2003-04 though it started in 2000. Today 10 years later everyone goes to Google.
Start your due diligence now by
Point-2: Look to see what products the company is offering. In todays world of commerce I would strongly go for a company with good products or services. A good industry to look at is the wellness industry. This is booming and will offer many opportunities as there are many good companies in this sector of commerce.
A word of caution! with booms come alot of scams so beware of companies with little or no financial backing, no scientific back ground or a lose-win compensation plan. Where you lose and the company wins. The business model must be a win-win for all- company as well as the distributors as long as the distributors put in the hard work that is. Point-3: Look at how the company marketing or business plan works. Does it pay favourably to people in the trenches who normally do most of the hard work. Don’t fall for hype that a company has the highest payout or meet the highest income level distributor.
Ask to talk to people who have just joined 3 months ago. Youw will get an idea how easy or hard it is when you talk to people who have been doing the business for 3 to 8 months.
In case people complain ask questions why are they not doing well. Maybe it could be them- their attitude, their commitment to their business or their level of training.
Don’t let a negative distributor turn you away from an opportunity. probably this dis-satisfied person did not attend the trainings, or spoke to people consistently. If they did and were not not successful, then ask a few more people to get a better feel of whats going on. Look for online reviews and again ask questions. Find out more
If these ordinary distributors can earn income within 8 to 12 weeks and you are convinced then its time to put your money where your mouth is.
Point-4: See what support and training is being offered by the home business company as well as the person bringing you in.
Online & Offline Support
In case your sponsor joined the company a week before you did then ask if you could have an extra person to mentor you as your sponsor is only new and learning as well.
Most companies have free online and off line training.
Point-5: Look to see if there is growth potential globally within the company. This will allow you to expand your business world wide over time and thus increase your profits.

How To Select A Home Based Business?
Selecting a home based business though easy may not be as simple as you think. It is probably due to the fact you don’t use the same due diligence that you would exercise in a traditional business as most often the outlay being less makes you feel that investigating the opportunity may not be necessary as the business does not cost a lot, so why bother. You tell yourself if it works out fair enough other wise I have not lost much.
This is definitely a very bad attitude as it sets you up for failure from day one.
Interestingly if you make a mistake you could stand to lose a lot just by wasting time with the wrong opportunity. Good opportunities could in that same amount of time have made you a tidy extra income if you had put in the same energy and time.
Most people are looking for a way to earn extra income and are picking up opportunities everyday that family, friends, work mates or the internet provides them with. As most of these businesses are relatively cheap, between $1 to $500, people are not to cautious and will jump into an opportunity pretty fast, just as fast as they jump out when it does not work out. Some of the hype are:
- You really don’t have to buy any products once you are a member, just sign up for a set fee and recommend people to do the same, or
- You don’t have to go for any meetings, whether they be online or off line, the system will do everything for you
- You don’t have to attend any training, or
- You don’t have to do any marketing, or
- You don’t have to buy any products on a monthly basis, or
- This is such a cheap business, it’s only xyz dollars only, so why not try it,
- And the list goes on.
What you don’t realise is that the person selling you the home based business program is really dwelling upon your habit of being lazy and wanting to get rich fast. He knows where your weakness lies and will try his best to sell you something based on what you want, even if you do know it may not be true in your heart of hearts. That’s because human greed and laziness plays a major part in part lives. This is a WIN-LOSE situation….. They win , You LOSE!
I can vouch for that as I see my 84 year father-in-law constantly buy into every network marketing or internet marketing deal that gets launched as he thinks the next one will be the one making him a millionaire. The dream of getting there is so powerful that we forget what will actually get us there.
Where Do We Go Wrong?
How wrong is he now? Can it really happen that home based businesses can earn us extra income or create wealth? Yes it can but my father-in-law or you need to do a few things and do some part-time work maybe 5 to 20 hours a week minimum before you actually see any rewards. What most of the so called GURUS don’t tell us openly is that they actually were working at their programs or lists for maybe 7 to 15 years and now can command huge incomes because they have a huge following. Even Mike Dillard says so in his newsletters. He mentions how he struggled for years before he finally started to make money. There is no easy road! You should learn from others who have travelled the road less travelled and follow them to success.
Selecting the Right Products!
A good business must have great products that people can buy willingly and the quality of the products should be well above the standards of those readily available from the stores. Secondly the product knowledge as well as customer service you give your client is priceless as this is not seen a lot in large stores these days. This maybe one main reason why most people will buy products from a home based business distributor as they get high level of support- both before and after sales. Use this reason to base your whole business approach on. It will pay off in the years to come.
So settle for a product that you will buy willing and then start analysing the business model behind it after you feel the product quality suits your level of integrity and purpose. A key element to pay attention to is the demand the product may have in the market place. The higher the demand the better the potential to make money.
Why Look At Health & Wellness?
Today personally I feel the Health & Wellness industry is worth looking at because its growing well past a trillion dollar industry and coupled with technology of the internet you could well have a thriving business in 3 to 4 years of starting. I mean a business making well over potentially $2000 to $10000 a week in potential net income before taxes. Look for a company that has very good quality of products, the science to back it up, and then look at how it will pay you. Other factors to look at are if the company is debt free, public or private, how long has it been in the market, who runs the company, and what’s it Vision Statement is. There are a number of other factors such as company financials, etc which I shall be covering is later segments in Selecting your homebased business.
PS: I use the word potentially here as you have to build the business, the takings are there but you have to work for it. Interestingly its only part time effort maybe 10 to 20 hours a week, possibly 2 to 3 hours a day after you day job to build this lucrative side extra income.
Look for always a WIN-WIN business model!
So if you do start off today, you too will be a success in 3 to 10 Years too.

What is a home based business?
A home based business is one that is as the phrase says… home based. You do actually run this from home. The very fact that you are running the business from home helps you to cut down all the over heads traditional main stream business has. such as rent, travelling expenses to work, etc. You can do this from your study or in your garage and in most cases you don’t have to carry any stock so all you are doing is running the marketing of the business, driving customers to the company and also looking for other people to help you who will become part of your distributor force. It’s that simple. Like any organisation you will need to have simple systems in place such as training ( the parent company holds most of these), customer follow up procedure, etc. I shall go into this is subsequent posts soon.
