Failing Forward

We are brought up in a world where failing is frowned upon. Our school system
rewards only those who excel. Parents praise the child who brings back a report card
with A’s only. In fact the other siblings have no place on dad’s lap if they come in
second best.

I remember my father always praised his older children for they accomplished school
work and would leave out and not make any mention of my last two brothers. This
was hard on them as they were young and need to be encouraged. I supposed this
would have been hard on them. They had to compete with us older siblings all the
time and nothing was good enough in my dad’s eyes.

You probably have been soft wired like that too where failure was not respected as
being normal. I want you now to change that mindset and look at failure in the eye as
a close friend. Without failure how else you could gauge if you are moving forward or
not. Learn to take failure as part of the whole process of trying. If you were not
trying, you would not see results. And without results you will not know what you have
done has made a difference or not.

I would define failure as the result of an activity you have done, whereby you will use
this as a bench mark now to better and move forward by tweaking your activities to
make subtle changes to make sure you don’t make the same mistakes again. Only the
insane do the same things and hope to get a different result each time.

A very good example of failing forward is seen in out elite athletes. They set and reset
their goals and try to break new records in spite of failing over and over again. When
they do break through the triumph is huge and rewarding. It’s not the result but
rather the “process” of getting your predetermined goal accomplished is what
matters.

Part of failing forward is due to you knowing who you are. Having faith in your
abilities is a huge positive force in propelling you to try again and again inspire of
serious setbacks. Having a good back up team and a mentor helps too to reenforce the
faith you need to instill daily in you to motivate you to keep trying.

In the field of network marketing I constantly get people say to me I have tried to join
a MLM company and it does not work. What they are telling me is that they have
tried to change their life and with a small set back they have decided to quit. They
have not set the eyes on the BIG PICTURE.

There may be many reasons why these people quit but what they should have done
was to fail forward. If they had analyzed what they had done they may have been
able to reset their goals based on their experiences gained when failing. This is called
failing forward.

What if they done things differently? Learnt more about what they were marketing
and then made a serious attempt to retry and do things better. Abraham Lincoln said
once “if it took eight hours to chop a tree down, I would spend time sharpening my
axe for seven”.

How To Fail And Succeed In Life

If you take what is dished out to you, there will come a time where resentment will set
in. You will tolerate your family, work mates or bosses but with fear and no loyalty and

love. But instead if you were to nip the situation in the bud, you may be able to avoid
an embarrassing clash in the future, thus avoiding relationship breakdowns whether it
be at home or business.

Reacting with confidence and respect you don’t have to run away from failure or
rejection but can learn to work things out in a win-win way. This helps to create a
great positive atmosphere as well as everyone wins and no drastic changes have to
take place.

I will come back to creating a win win for all later on in another chapter based on
creating better relationships. Let me help you right here to fail forward and work
around issues you have right now.

How To Build A Successful Business In Network Marketing In The Philippines

CHAPTER 5 Part 1
Handling Failure
How to handle rejection and move forward

HANDLING FAILURE

What School Never Taught Us
How to look at life through new lenses!

Looking Back
Have you read the chapter on my life on how I struggled as a young man and part of the blame I mentioned was my good old mother who wanted to have well mannered children in the neighborhood. In doing so she made us too conscious of ourselves,
resulting in a lack of confidence in our ability to be part of a ever changing society.

To successful we need to think. When we think outside the box we become movers of change or change facilities instead of change acceptors. We create the movement. We are not part of the movement. We become leaders in our fields of expertise.

Unfortunately I was not exposed to that when I was young. I share this with you so you can become a better leader by looking and working outside the comfort zone. Though always make sure you have a win-win approach with the people you work
with.

Don’t get me wrong. I am not against parents bringing up their children as respectful young people. What I would have preferred is that we were raised to respect people but at the same time have the courage to stand up for what was right or wrong.

Look out for my next post…

Business is not easy and though simple in terms of selling and buying may bring up issues from time to time.

Build you business on a solid foundation of ideals and integrity so people both customers as well as other business owners will look upon you are a source of strength and guidance in the community.

Don’t fall for hype or hear say but follow your heart and always lead where you would go first. Do not lay blame on others for your failures.  learn why you have been failing and look ahead and not make those mistakes again.

Taking responsibility for your actions, whether fruitful or not is a sign of a true leader.  Learn from those mistakes and move forward. Ask for advice along the way and come out a winner.

Most people when they see failure will think its to do with their leader or their team at first. What if its really you. Look within you. have you been growing and learning to be an inspiration to those around you. And is you have been a good example then look to see if the people you are leading are they worth your time and effort. Are they good students.

Most often it could be that you are not prepared to put in the effort to make your business at home a success. It could also be that you want others to be like you.  And you are trying too hard.  Probably they are not wanting what you have in the first place.

Start to take responsibility and build your home based business with integrity in the Philippines.
